PreS-Gr 2—"Understanding what's in your heart" is the theme of this tale by Piper Quinn. Benny the Bird leads children through nine vibrant neighborhoods as colorful characters portray the emotions and feelings of each area—happiness, sadness, anger, shock, embarrassment, excitement, scariness, confidence, and love—and sing a song. The different tones and accents of animated voices in a catchy song and verse will appeal to the intended audience. Sound effects personify each feeling in a unique manner. A few of the segments seem a bit forced to make the words fit the meter. Early childhood teachers will find this production useful to introduce discussions about feelings and emotions.—Linda M.
