PreS-K–Ham turns her signature creation of bespoke rabbits into a trio of picture books. A simple, predictive text—“Rabbit up, Uh-oh! Rabbit down”—accompany Rabbit’s engagement in various physical activities. Page turns have just enough suspense for young listeners. Those familiar with Ham’s work may note with surprise the addition of yellow to her signature black-and-white color scheme. The high-contrast illustrations make this work ideal for infants. But once babies are at the grab-everything stage, this book may not hold up to wide circulation.
VERDICT A simple work with scope for imagination, this is a delightful addition to library collections.
