Transformers Rescue Bots: Adventures in Time and Space

Gr 1–4—The Rescue Bots—Chase, Heatwave, Blades, and Boulder—have been ordered by Optimus Prime to assist humankind and to learn from their operators, the Burns family. This edition of the series focuses on episodes featuring outer space and time-traveling adventures. Although entertaining, the show overall feels lacking in some areas. The third episode, "Switcheroo," in which the members of the team mentally swap places with their operators, has the female pilot Dani Burns running laps to work off the yogurt on which she has been bingeing, along with some other questionable story choices. As a collection, it fails to deliver a complete narrative, as it's only five episodes long and the first episode, "It's a Bot Time," ends with a cliff-hanger that's not resolved on the DVD. However, the disc certainly has lots of nonviolent action perfect for younger children, along with some fairly complicated plots and more sophisticated jokes to lure some adult viewers. The blocky art design and bright coloring of every scene will certainly hold children's attention.
