PreS-K—Papa Crow (singer/songwriter Jeff Krebs) makes a strong entrance into the kindie scene with his debut CD. Gentle vocals are the highlight of the 12 original songs that cover topics from peek-a-boo to a new balloon to what makes up a family. Often it is just Krebs lone voice that tells such tales as that of a polar bear in a snowstorm or the scary things that are no longer alarming. The electric guitar, acoustic guitar, banjo, ukulele, and upright bass are just some of the instruments backing him, bringing the rock 'n roll or Latin flavor to the songs. The addition of a child's voice or laugh enhances the listening experience, as does the inclusion of such surprises as a kazoo solo. The lyrics are clear, even on the tunes with fast tempos, with refrains that are easy for young children to learn. The majority of the songs are slow and quiet, making them the perfect way to end a busy day.—
