PreS-Gr 2–When Wolf is taken to a museum by his friends, he doesn’t have high expectations. However, a security guard named Barnabas (a rat) vows to help Wolf find something in the museum that he will enjoy. Unfortunately, their search is cut short as a mask is stolen from one of the exhibits. As Wolf and Barnabas race to uncover the culprit and save the artifact, they encounter several historical pieces found in large museums. Lallemand has created another wonderful plot featuring Wolf that both excites and engages readers. Thuillier’s illustrations add great emotion to the plot through character expressions, while also showing readers exactly what sorts of artifacts one can encounter in a museum through wolf-world parodies of famous pieces.
VERDICT Together Lallemand and Thuillier have created another fun entry in the series, this time showing readers how there is something for everyone, especially in a museum. A great tale to introduce young readers to wonders of natural history and museums.
