Gr 4–6—These titles are among the best of their type to come along in some time. The authors have done well in their use of proper terms without dumbing down the content. Readers should be able to gain a thorough understanding of special-operations units and the training required to become a member of one. With all of the technical jargon, it is sometimes jarring when the text uses simple vocabulary, such as "…they made a plan…." Each page is loaded with photos of training, equipment, and weapons; various fonts; fact boxes in assorted colors; and maps. Unfamiliar terms are printed in red and defined in a box at the bottom of the page and in a glossary. Measurements are given in both standard and metric. Just like the few individuals who try to become a member of a special-operations unit and succeed, this series passes the tests.—Eldon Younce, Anthony Public Library, KS
