PreS-Gr 3—Levy, founder of the kindie band The Sippy Cups, follows her solo debut World of Wonder (2012) with this unique collection of songs. Nine of the 10 tracks are original; the one cover is Cat Stevens's "If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out." Many of the songs will inspire self-confidence in listeners as topics such as the first day of school and letting your feelings show are covered. The nonscary "Ballad of Boo Ghosty" would work well during a storytime or program for younger grade schoolers and embraces the theme of acceptance in a new, fun way. Accompanied by a full complement of instruments, Levy's rich voice calls to mind Carole King on the slower tunes and the sounds of 1960s pop on some of the faster paced songs.
VERDICT This enjoyable album is a welcome addition to any collection.
