Gr 8 Up—The potential consequences of sexting, including social notoriety, blackmail, suspension or expulsion from school, arrest, and felony charges in some states are candidly explained The film begins with a dramatization of a girl sexting a photo of herself and its disastrous consequences. Viewers are given advice on how to flirt and fit in without having to resort to sexting. High school students comment throughout, and a diverse cast of teens are featured in dramatizations. A high school media literacy instructor offers occasional advice, but most of this powerful presentation consists of the narrator spelling out the dire consequences of sexting. After each segment, the information is reviewed. Frequent references to Facebook help bring the topic home to students. The educator's video is must-see for all secondary school administrators because it warns of the severe consequences for educators if reports of sexting are not handled properly. Every school is encouraged to have a specific procedure in place to handle sexting reports and urged to educate parents. While many schools have bullying and cyberbullying programs, this film points out the need to make sure everyone connected with a school community is cognizant of the dangers of sexting.—David Bilmes, Schaghticoke Middle School, New Milford, CT
