Gr 9 Up—Women are the main focus of this documentary that examines immigration and culture. The film is broken into three chapters—"Coming and Living in America," "Borders Inside and Out," and "Luna's Story"—and includes women from various cultures and ethnicities. This work is very short and briefly touches on topics that could be cause for further inquiry and discussion. However, some drawbacks hinder the content. This resource is filmed in such a way that viewers see not only the people being interviewed but also frequently the film crew, which takes away from the flow of the accounts. Also, the personal narratives aren't always continuous, and the screen-time among the featured women is not well-balanced.
VERDICT While the topic and diversity are commendable, this documentary has too many flaws to be recommended.
