These 14 folk songs showcase the animals and nature of Australia while emphasizing the importance of being good to the Earth and to one another. Each song tells a story set to the music of instruments, such as the fiddle, mandolin, and dobro. While American children may not be familiar with many of the places and animals that are mentioned, that just lends songs such as "Howl Like a Dingo" or "The Gulf of Carpentaria" to teachable moments.
VERDICT The Little Blue Bus is a solid selection for collections where music highlighting other cultures is in demand.
