Gr 4–7—All the aliens want is to see the hominids evolve and stop destroying the biosphere. Fortunately for them, best friends David and Mickey are a different breed of human. The two teenage boys find a space suit while camping and embark on what initially promises to be a grand adventure. Rather than the immersive world promised, this work has numerous stumbling blocks in its narrative: the book is told in alternating viewpoints that are difficult to distinguish. This, coupled with David's and Mickey's stilted dialogue, makes the characters flat and unbelievable. Additionally, the author's shifts in verb tense makes this a challenging read.
VERDICT Riddled with excessive exclamation points, poor grammar, and inauthentic characterization, this is a skip.
