PreS-Gr 2—Chapin takes on the important topic of social interaction, having partnered with the folks behind the concept of Social Thinking, who promote the idea that when we interact with people, we think about them; there are many people for whom this does not come naturally. With fellow songwriter Phil Galdston, Chapin created a collection of songs that teach young children about some of the social cues that are elements of social thinking. Through upbeat melodies, catchy lyrics and just plain fun-to-listen-to music, Chapin and Galdston craft songs that emphasize the joy of interacting with others and that teach listeners how to read facial expressions and express their own feelings. Chapin's clear vocals backed by a variety of delightful instruments result in an entertaining, rather than didactic, experience. While this album coordinates with the books in The Incredible Flexible You: A Social Thinking Curriculum for The Preschool and Elementary Years, it can also easily be used in classrooms, storytimes and family settings. This unique album deserves a spot in every collection.—
