PreS-K—Sophia, one of 12 bunnies, has lost something, but what could it be? With each page turn, readers explore a room with her and look for the items mentioned in the text that relate to it. For example, "In the kitchen there are 5 cups, 4 plates, 2 bowls, and a mug without a handle. Sophia hunts through the cupboards." The spread features all the bunnies scampering and playing in the kitchen. There are more than enough details in each setting for a good challenge. The sweet illustrations have soft lines and cozy hues. Sophia finally finds what she is looking for when the 12 snuggly bunnies are tucked under the covers with one special story for all to enjoy. A lovely counting book cum bedtime story.—Anne Beier, Hendrick Hudson Free Library, Montrose, NY
In a busy house with twelve active rabbits, bunny Sophia looks for a lost "something." Each double-page spread pictures the rambunctious bunnies in the kitchen, garden, and various rooms, until Sophia finds the missing bedtime storybook. The look-and-find premise in the counting book uses vocabulary (wicker, duster) that may be challenging for younger listeners.
