PreS-Gr 3–The Berenstain Bears ride again, this time with a show for the whole town, written and performed by the little bears at school, all about staying healthy. At first, the little bears think it will be boring, but by getting information from lots of different people in town, they learn a lot and have fun. There is a lot of specific vocabulary around health: vaccines, antibiotics, bacteria, viruses. Educators will need to supply more background or direct instruction. Still, this is a nice introduction to topics of healthy eating, exercise, and other good habits, like hand washing. The artwork is warm and cheerful, with all the familiar Berenstains making an appearance.
VERDICT A fine addition to the series.
