This update is comprised of more than 1500 titles that have been published since 2003, most of which are not included in past editions. The chapters and subchapters provide a brief overview of the topic and are organized by genre, subgenre, or an overall theme. Each entry is annotated and includes a concise subject list, and some entries include a list of read-alikes. Herald also includes books written for children and those for adults that have teen appeal. She hits on some popular trends in YA books with chapters on issues, paranormal and horror, and alternate formats while also covering more standard genres such as historical fiction, romance, and fantasy. While the author does not intend for the book to be a scholarly overview or an all-encompassing bibliography, her inclusions are a fair listing of genre-specific titles that will jog one's memory. Herald suggests using this volume to identify read-alikes, to beef up genre collections, and for library staff to familiarize themselves with the literature. While the book is well organized, a lack of white space makes it a bit difficult to tell when one sublist ends and another begins. A worthy addition to reference or professional-development collection.—Adrienne L. Strock, Maricopa County Library District, AZ
