PreS-Gr 2—Each day when the boy returns from school, a dog with one blue eye and one brown is waiting for him. The pup does not belong to the boy, but is his friend and they enjoy spending time together and each day go surfing. While surfing, the boy sometimes surfs on his own and the dog goes to play with his friends, but they always return home together. At its core, this is a book about friendship. The two choose to spend time together with no ties or obligations to the other. The illustrations are cute but not particularly engaging and do not enhance the story.
VERDICT There are many books that address the theme of friendship and this one does not add anything to that discussion. An additional purchase at best.
