Gr 6 Up—The subtitle is slightly misleading. This program does not focus on online behavior but on how using technology and social media in real life (at a party, while having a meal with a friend) impacts those situations. A cheerful "host" and several young "guests" present four simple rules that will help maintain friendships and relationships: people come before technology; don't interfere with other's experiences or rights; if you don't want the world to see it, don't put it online; and what happens online stays online, forever. Taking these suggestions and applying them to everyday situations, the DVD offers straightforward and common sense advice that may have been forgotten in the constant connectivity provided by cell phones and social media. When you are with other people, pay attention to them, not to your phone. Turn the ringer off at a meeting or movie. Don't post explicit photos. Don't break up with someone via social media. "Don't show…pictures of your rash." The program encourages teens to utilize privacy settings, to ask before sharing someone else's content, and to seek out a trusted adult if they feel unsafe or harassed.
VERDICT With friendly presenters, high-quality graphics, bouncy music, and useful information presented in a positive, nondidactic manner, this program should keep students' attention.
