Gr 8 Up—Following a two-month coma, 16-year-old Savannah Delcarta wakes up with a newfound power. When she and her four sisters get together, they can predict a future event. Each sister uses a different sense to do so. Savannah can see these events, which include anything from a neighbor taking out the trash to the serial arsonist in town setting another fire. While working out the kinks of these new abilities, the family is trying to settle into a new life in Iris Harbor, hoping for a fresh start. Savannah is the youngest of her sisters and narrates this series opener. She can also see ghosts, which comes in handy for Riley, the boy she starts dating who lives across the street, and for Savannah's family as well, as their father disappeared years before the start of the book. The author presents their sisterly bond in an authentic way, but readers may question the sudden development of the powers.
