You may have thought he helped his elves get the gifts ready for the children, but he does so much more. “... you don’t get a body like that for nothing. It’s not a pajama. It requires maintenance. That’s why Santa is always working out.” In a search-and-find–style book, readers are asked at the beginning to be on the lookout for certain items. Kids don’t get reminders of what they are supposed to find on each page, and they will need to refer to beginning to remember the items on the list. Small, lengthy writing and tiny illustrations in muted reds, browns, and greens can be difficult to wade through. Determined readers will find humor in the small details of the illustrations.
VERDICT An additional purchase for libraries wishing to add to their look-and-find and holiday collections.
