PreS-Gr 3—This collection of 60 nursery favorites includes such favorites as "Hickory Dickory Dock" and "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" as well as Irish rhymes like "Sally Go Round the Moon." Some of the selections share a page with a brief rhyme such as "Red Sky in the Morning…" offset by red print. McCarthy's art often adds a slant to the rhyme or extend its story. The palette is subdued, but the selections and presentation convey a lively sense of humor. Longer rhymes and songs such as "Are Ye Right There, Michael?" are abbreviated to have greater appeal to children. Parents, child-care providers, and elementary school teachers will find this a wonderful resource for encouraging literacy and imagination.—Teresa Pfeifer, Alfred Zanetti Montessori Magnet School, Springfield, MA
