Rumors, Gossip, and Teasing

Gr 3–6—A female teen host and a multiethnic cast of adolescents present three vignettes showing how rumors, gossip, teasing, taunting, and bullying can hurt. The situations are realistic, and the pain that these actions can cause is presented clearly. Each scenario is followed by questions that provide logical pause points for the presentation and the opportunity for discussion. What is particularly good is that the aggressor in each case is not portrayed as a horrible person, but rather as someone who doesn't recognize that they've crossed a line. In each case, a resolution is reached—the truth comes out, a parent provides good advice, or friends stand up and make the behavior stop. Terms are clearly defined and possible solutions are offered. Ways to avoid being the victim or the aggressor are presented. Both audio and video quality is excellent.
