PreS-Gr 3—In her second album, Glanzer recalls a musical time gone by with covers of songs like "Puff the Magic Dragon" and "Free to Be You & Me." "Favorite Things" offers a unique medley of Broadway tunes: "Favorite Thing" from
Sound of Music, "Fly a Kite" from
Mary Poppins, and "Castle on a Cloud" from
Les Miserables. Along with these classics, Glanzer also emphasizes the importance of individuality in songs like "Make Your Own Kind of Music" and the empowerment of girls with "A Girl Can Be a Hero." Children will enjoy the title song which has verses with a slower tempo combined with a get-up-and-dance chorus. A new take on an old favorite, "Old McDonald's Farm at Night," would be a nice addition to story times. Glanzer's theater training is obvious in her strong vocals, which are backed by an array of instruments including percussion, brass, guitars, and piano. A solid addition to all collections.—
