PreS-K–With digital art reminiscent of that of Richard Scarry’s
Busy Town, this book offers little ones plenty to examine. Anthropomorphic canine characters of all sizes and shapes drive the trucks. Most sentences are short and simple and end with “truck.” “Stop, truck! Garbage truck. What a heap of muck, truck! Squeeze, truck! Crush, truck! Never in a rush truck.” The rhythmic sentences ensure that youngsters will demand many readings of this book, and since it’s a short book, they will probably memorize it, too. Trucks of all sizes and shapes, colors, and uses are shown. Vehicles pictured are doing jobs in the mud, lifting things, moving items, and transporting goods and even cows! Transportation lovers will certainly enjoy the feast that is to be had with this rhyming work.
VERDICT A solid purchase for libraries where excellent chant-alongs are in demand.
