PreS—This rhyming narrative assumes familiarity with the customs and characters associated with this Jewish holiday. "I made parties with food and wine,/One hundred and twenty seven lands are mine!" The book depicts celebrations by an Orthodox family and includes some of the more obscure Talmudic interpretations of the Purim story. Bright, simple line drawings support the text. Back matter has an explanation of the special mitzvoth (commandments) associated with the holiday. This picture book will be welcomed by members of the Orthodox Jewish community, but it may confuse other readers.—Heidi Estrin, Congregation B'nai Israel, Boca Raton, FL
