PreS—The mix of upbeat tunes and ballads in this compilation of songs from the original music-and-movement curriculum for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, developed at Play in Los Angeles, results in a varied program. Each member of the large cast of lead singers delivers a polished and professional performance. Musical arrangements are tasteful and easy to learn for sing-alongs, often including harmonies and intriguing accompaniments. Several tunes are adaptations of traditional songs, such as "Little Liza Jane," "Mama Don't Allow," "Jack, Can I Ride?," "Come Up, Horsey," "Sarasponda," and "Polly Wolly Doodle." Also included are the Japanese ballad "Santoki" and "La Araña Pequiñita" ("The Itsy Bitsy Spider" sung in Spanish). Among the original songs are "Hello My Friends" (a folksy greeting song), "At Farmer's Market" (a call/response), and "Butterflies." This collection stands solidly on its own, independent of the Play curriculum.—
