Gr 7—10—Picking up two months after Cammie's attempted kidnapping in Don't Judge a Girl by Her Cover (Hyperion, 2009; Brilliance 2009), Ally Carter's next installment (Hyperion, 2010) brings on more danger, betrayals, secrets, and potential romance. Cammie is now under constant surveillance, "lovingly" enforced by her three best friends. When one of the teachers Cammie trusted is accused of turning traitor, Cammie begins to wonder if it is safe to have faith in anyone. When Zach also begins to show up at every turn, Cammie decides she needs some answers. Can she survive finding out the truth? Renee Raudman's narration is done with brilliant pacing and excellent character distinction. Though Cammie can sound overly shrill at points, Raudman's cadence is flawless. Cammie's wild emotions are portrayed with verve, making for a thoroughly entertaining tale. Recommended for libraries that already have the other volumes in the series.—Jessica Miller, New Britain Public Library, CT
