Callie is a high school student who lives in the human world, but she knows her origins are more complicated than that because she can see and speak to creatures that are invisible to everyone else. Her father is a daemon who frequently visits the magical realm, but he forbade her from going there herself. On Callie’s 17th birthday, her entire life changes when her father goes missing. A boy named Declan, who has the potential to be her friend and maybe even something more, tells her that he can also see those invisible creatures, and together, they cross into the magical realm to try to save Callie’s father. The pair are soon joined by the ghostly Radish and their journey takes them across the magical realm where they meet all kinds of amazing creatures, learn more about themselves and each other, and strengthen their connection. The protagonists are curious and clever, and readers will be rooting for them to find Callie’s father and also uncover the truth about themselves. Cook’s artwork is filled with energy, color, and humor, mixing traditional comic and manga styles.
