Toddler-PreS–Little Chick, in his fourth book, is determined to welcome all the new animal babies in his storybook world. He congratulates each and gives a little gift before moving onto another animal. When he arrives back home, he asks his mother if he is as sweet as all the other babies. “Of course,” she replies. “You are a wonder.” There is inconsistency in the artwork, which may be intended as primitive, but which is more of a mash of line art with rough digital illustration. With little sequencing of the action, there are some adorable vignettes.
VERDICT For collections where Little Chick’s other adventures have won hearts.
