K-Gr 1—These introductory readers describe common places youngsters often visit. One or two sentences in large font clearly describe what is pictured in the image facing them. The full-color, cartoon illustrations are similar to Wii graphics. With the exception of Bank, the titles generally feature a racially diverse cast and background characters. Dentist even reverses common gender expectations—the dental hygienist is male and the dentist is female. These books provide minimal information about the places they discuss, but they are accurate. Designed for beginning readers, this series will help students gain confidence as they read about places or activities that are familiar to them. This series is also available in English/Spanish bilingual editions.
