PreS-K—This boxed set of four board books features five animal friends. In Numbers, each one brings food items to a picnic and, when counted, introduces the numbers one through five. As Julius, Leonie, Romeo, and Nina play with Tom's toys, various shapes are highlighted, such as blocks (square), ball (round), books (rectangle), and snacks (triangle) to introduce the concept. In Opposites, it is cold outside so the friends play hide-and-seek inside. Some of the opposites are not the commonly used words (tall, small; skinny, chubby). In Colours, each friend has a favorite hue. The digital artwork has the appeal of paper collage using bright colors and patterns to add texture and visual interest. There are many titles that cover similar ground, and while these five friends are indeed "adorable," the set is an additional purchase.—Sandra Welzenbach, Villarreal Elementary School, San Antonio, TX
