PreS-Gr 6—If you are looking for a children's album filled with funky, soul-filled music, driving bass guitar, sizzling horns, and amazing vocals, this one is for you. Musician Rodney Lee and a team of singers and instrumentalists perform ten high-energy tunes that introduce various instruments and musical concepts such as high notes, low notes, and tempo. Many of the songs, such as "Funky Chicken" and "Get Up, Get Down, Get Funky, Get Loose," get children moving and grooving to the beat. Others, such as "Humpty Dumpty," turn traditional tunes on end. Since the majority of the numbers last between four and five minutes, most of the songs are too long for story time but would work well in music classes or a home environment. Parents looking for music with a mature sound but lyrics that are spot-on for children will really love this album.
