Monty and Milli

K-Gr 2—Monty's sister, Milli, wants to do everything he does. From playing with robots and painting to roaring and reading, the younger mouse wants in. When Monty gets a magic kit, he is thrilled to see one wand, one hat, one cape, and one book. Milli is not happy with the situation until her brother invites her to be his assistant. Unfortunately, she is better at taking over than helping, and Monty loses his cool when she accidentally flattens his hat and breaks his wand. He wishes she would turn into a toad and disappear. When Milli doesn't show up at snack time, he fears that his magic has taken the sister he loves. A happy ending ensues when she appears from under the kitchen table. Author and illustrator deliver a perfect match of words and pictures. Corderoy hits all the right notes of sibling frustration and love while Warnes's cartoon images show them with attention to detail, expressions, and excellent color choices.
