More than 150 creators, including nominees and winners of the Printz, Eisner, Harvey, and other prestigious awards, have come together to produce a thoughtful collection of comics to benefit Planned Parenthood. Each brings a different perspective to issues of sexual health, reproductive freedom, and bodily autonomy. The contributors offer biographies of important figures in Planned Parenthood's history, traumatic accounts caused by lack of access to reproductive care, examinations of the obstacles faced by the organization and those who want to access its services, and a few superheroine adventures. The entries vary in tone, from humorous to serious, fantastic to realistic, sobering to uplifting, all supported by artwork ranging from full-color renderings to more muted palettes. After opening with an overview of Planned Parenthood, the comics explore women's concerns and illustrate how the organization serves men and gender-nonconforming people. Bound to resonate with many readers, this anthology successfully fosters understanding of the importance of Planned Parenthood and the price paid when access to its services is denied.
