PreS-Gr 1—A simple, cheerful story of the birth of Jesus. Everyone from kings to sheep has a smile in this straightforward telling: "Mary has her baby./She rocks him to and fro./Joseph kisses his sweet forehead./They love the baby so." The stars of the book are the dimensional, appealing paper-cut illustrations, especially the curly-fleeced sheep.
VERDICT While the rhymes are a slight distraction, this is a pleasant additional purchase for those who want a version light on religious mysticism but with a happy message of "love, and peace, and light."
