Toddler-PreS—Preschoolers' favorite mouse participates in her first field day at school. Maisy and her friends split into the red and the blue teams. They warm up and compete in a variety of outdoor races. After a snack, they finish with a game of tug-of-war, and Maisy's team wins. The friends express concerns that children will empathize with, like wanting to win and needing a break. Cousins's cartoon illustrations are as recognizable as ever, with thick, black outlines and bright, primary colors depicting Maisy and her friends in gym shorts, sneakers, and sweatbands.
VERDICT A new and worthy addition to the series.

Maisy and friends split into two teams for some good-natured competition, including a sack race and tug-of-war (Field Day). Preschoolers ride along with Maisy, from check in to baggage claim, in Plane. The stories are slight, but they're not the point. The books give young children basic information about unfamiliar situations. Cousins's bright art is reassuringly familiar.
