Magic Colors

PreS-Gr 1—Each spread in these unusual books includes a transparent page that interacts differently with the left and right leaves. For example, in Magic Colors, the shape of a green face on the see-through page creates the image of a brown bear against a deep orange background on the left, and shows the image of a green frog against a yellow background on the right. In Magic Opposites, an umbrella on the transparent page complements a beach scene on the right side and a rainy day on the left. Some of the other opposites featured include big/small, in/out, and left/right. Readers will find these clever and interactive page turns appealing. The targeted skills are simple, but slightly older readers will enjoy the novelty of the transparent page.
