PreS-K—Faith has trouble falling asleep—something is in the air, so she sets out to find what is happening. She meets the sandman with his magic dust as well as a grumpy owl, a mother fox, and an elf each trying to encourage its young ones to go to sleep. Finally, she meets a moth fairy prince who takes her to a Midsummer Night's party in a clearing in the forest, where she dances until she is too tired to fly home. The prince gently carries her home and puts her in bed where she dreams about all she saw and did. The brief, simple plot is clearly developed and offers a satisfying conclusion. Soft watercolors depict the fairy's quest to find magic in the air, and they impart a dreamlike quality. The double-page illustrations suggest an enchanted world that is sure to appeal to readers.—Margaret R. Tassia, Millersville University, PA
