Lilo and Stitch: The Official Cookbook: More Than 40 Recipes to Make for Your ‘Ohana

Gr 8 Up–Just over 20 years after the premiere of Lilo & Stitch, their first official cookbook is being published. Complete with Cosmic Pūpūs (appetizer/snacks), Main Island Dishes, Multi-galactic Pūpūs, Decadent Desserts, and Sips in Paradise, this title celebrates Hawaiian ‘ohana and culture. Author Rita is a native Hawaiian and brings an authentic voice to the many dishes in this title. Hawaiian words are used throughout, and there is a glossary to aid in understanding. Recipes are linked to movie characters through introductory notes and still shots from the film. Many of the ingredients are local to Hawai’i (especially the Hawaiian grass-fed ground beef), but Rita assures readers they should be able to find most ingredients at an Asian grocery store or online. This title also celebrates the mixture of cultures in Hawai’i with Japanese, Chinese, and Filipino foods. For those with dietary concerns there is a dietary considerations page which denotes recipes that are vegetarian, vegan, or gluten free.
