Gr 1-4–This lovely title provides a range of interesting animal facts, with rich digital illustrations that evoke the colors and style of botanical prints. Fascinating information about animals and their relative sizes is featured throughout. For example, the chameleon’s tongue is twice as long as its body, and the harpy eagle’s talons are longer than the Siberian tiger’s claws. The bumblebee bat, which lives in Asia and is the smallest bat in the world, measures just over one inch in length. Rather than offering a deep dive into animal facts, the text offers a collection of small, tasty tidbits that may spark a reader’s curiosity and send them searching for more. This volume is comparable to titles like What Do You Do with a Tail Like This? by Steve Jenkins and Robin Page and Roxie Munro’s Dive In: Swim with Sea Creatures at Their Actual Size.
