PreS-Gr 2–This is a well-intentioned rhyming story about Cor Cor, who uses a wheelchair but is not limited or defined by it, or by his physical challenges. In fact, Cor Cor travels all over the world, including such far-flung places as Finland, England, and Africa. Modes of transportation include a boat, a train, a plane, and even a wheelchair for use on sand when he visits Florida. The strong message and excellent theme is that Cor Cor can go anywhere he wants. The bright artwork is not up to the messaging, but collections wanting to represent as broad a reflection of lives will want to consider this one.
VERDICT Though an additional purchase at best, the book includes details about the author’s blog, chronicling his journeys and experiences, presenting a sound opportunity to connect kids with the many definitions of “able.”
