Kids & Divorce

(What About Me?). 15 min. Dist. by Film Ideas. 2015. $150 (PPR). ISBN unavail.
COPY ISBN
Gr 2–5—Children from the ages of approximately six to 10 talk about their experiences with their parents' divorce, accompanied by cartoons illustrating what each child says. The film is divided into several sections: "Arguing and Fighting," "Leaving and Separating," "Blame and Fault," "Understanding and Coping," and "Accepting and Growing." The children appear not to have yet fully processed and accepted the divorce, and the pain is very evident on their faces and in their voices. The children are sometimes difficult to understand and are filmed in sound bites rather than in fully developed thoughts. A much better film is Split: A Film for Kids of Divorce (and Their Parents).
