Jurassic Jeff: Phone Home

K-Gr 3–Jurassic Jeff is at it again in this installment of the series. In this adventure, Trevor, a walking trout, has accidentally landed Jeff’s spacecraft at the bottom of the ocean. Meanwhile, the Mothership is on its way to rescue Jeff, unaware that he is not ready to leave his Jurassic friends on Earth. Jeff is held captive by his old friends as his buddies sneak Trevor aboard the ship to rescue him from the rescue mission. Determined to bring Jeff and Trevor back home, the space aliens fight an epic Nerf war to get the job done. The earthlings, however, have technology on their side and a plan to save Jeff from being rescued. Allowing readers to jump right in with this installment, Lepp provides a recap at the start of the text of characters and scenarios helpful to the new plot. The adventure is complemented by soft cartoon-style art. The comic storytelling is coupled with effective characterization, offering laugh-out-loud creations, like Trevor, a trout with human-style legs.
