Following three kittens and their mother through the city, the book acts like a tour guide, visiting such sites as the Shrine of the Book, the Tower of David, and the Western Wall. Each place is highlighted by a photograph, with the illustrated kittens superimposed on the page. Quick facts are woven into the text, but they are few in number. For readers unfamiliar with the city, the work does not provide enough context or history on the subjects covered to render it useful. However, the main critters are cute and playful and will keep young audiences engaged.
VERDICT This will make a solid read-aloud for children already knowledgeable about Jerusalem, and an adequate addition to geography collections.
