PreS—Jolly Tall, the giraffe, has never seen snow before, so his stuffed-animal friends look for things inside the house that can simulate it. They find a snow globe, flour, bath bubbles, paper scraps, feathers, and snowflake cookies. Eventually it snows outside, and Jolly can see the real thing but decides that he likes the snowflake cookies best of all. The story has a clear purpose and resolution. There is humor in some of the shenanigans the cuddly friends get into, but their teamwork and persistence are endearing. The illustrations are soft and muted, giving a cozy, friendly tone to the story.
VERDICT A jolly seasonal selection, especially for Hissey's many fans.
