Gr 5 Up—Cordell Barker, of The Cat Came Back fame, returns with a 3-D animated short film based loosely on a teenage memory. Narrated by Barker in first person, this presents a 12-year-old's fantasy as he dissects a frog and gets a taste of true power over life and death. He aspires to finally achieve a perfect day with his dream girl, Lily, and thwart his archnemesis, Augie. The animation slips from stop-motion to traditional to multimedia, all done with a sense of humor and a tendency to hyperbole that will inspire laughter.
VERDICT This is a quirky production that might serve as an inspiration for young animators wanting to create their own projects.
