PreS-Gr 4—St. Louis-based Mr. Saxophone (Dave Farver) kicks off his second recording for kids with a 1970s-inspired "Mothership," an S.O.S. supported with horns and a Hammond B-3 organ. The eight original tunes include "Earth and Sky Lullaby" (a psychedelic ballad), "What's that Sound?" (an up-tempo tune), "Hugs and Kisses" (a soft-shoe song with a sound reminiscent of Randy Newman), and "I Sneeze in Threes" (a rocking number about allergies). Farver channels "Weird Al" Yankovic with parodies of classic rock tunes "Luke, I'm Your Father" (a story about Luke Skywalker, set to Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water"), "Gravy Stain" (describing stains on your clothes, set to Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train"), and "The Gila" (a joyous description about a Gila monster, set to The Champs' "Tequila"). Saxophones are often featured as solos on the disc. A fun diversion for the whole family.—Stephanie Bange, Wright State University, Dayton, OH
