PreS-K—This French translation is part of the "My Little Picture Book" series that explores values. When Henry the hedgehog loses patience with his family members, he tries friends' families for a better fit. Donkey's adopted, frog has a single mother, pig is the product of a mixed marriage (wild boar and pig), calf is parented by two bulls, and swallow has an owl nanny. Henry learns that "the perfect family doesn't exist" and returns to appreciate his own. Rigaudie's cartoons in warm colors add snippets of humor, like the wolf pack's messy dorm and Henry's Coke-bottle glasses. Unfortunately, the message is muddled, since the ending shows Henry's traditional family as the best.—Gay Lynn Van Vleck, Henrico County Library, Glen Allen, VA
