PreS-Gr 2—Jill Jayne, the self-proclaimed "Rockstar Nutritionist," has released her third album with a health-related theme. A registered dietitian with a master's degree in nutrition and the former writer, producer, and host of the PBS children's nutrition news program,
What's in the News, Jayne is dedicated to educating and entertaining youngsters about the importance of healthy habits. The 14 original tunes with a variety of musical styles cover the topics of food ("Choo Choo Go," a rocking tune comparing the importance of good food for the body to fuel for a train; "Nature's Candy," a driving number about the sweetness of fruit; "The Water Polka," about the importance of drinking water); personal hygiene ("Business to Do," an upbeat ditty about toilet habits; "Bubble Rap," about the importance of getting rid of dirt; "Brush Your Teeth," a 1940's Andrews Sisters-inspired tune about tooth care); and other means of taking care of your body ("Jumping Jacks," a Caribbean-flavored number about exercise; "Sunscreen," a 1950s girl group-channeled song reminding listeners use sunscreen; and "Sleep Time," a lullaby about the importance of sleep). Featuring tight arrangements and a well-paced playlist, this is an excellent choice for health curriculums.—
