Gr 7–10—Cheyenne Wilder is a blind teenager and has pneumonia. When her mother runs into the pharmacy to get antibiotics, Cheyenne stays in the backseat of the car with the motor running. The car is stolen and the teenager becomes an unintentional kidnap victim. When Griffin, the carjacker, returns home and his father discovers that the daughter of the president of Nike is the victim, things go from bad to worse. Cheyenne's relationship with Griffin adds another layer to this thriller. Kate Rudd does a great job of bringing to life the different characters in Henry's novel (Holt, 2010). Although the book drags in places and the disability of the main character occasionally overshadows the story, listeners will be caught up in the complex, ever-changing plot layers. The conclusion is left somewhat to listeners' imaginations. For fans of realistic suspense stories.—
