Gerry Rhymes: For Kids One to Ninety-Two

PRES-K—Singer and songwriter Png has compiled classic nursery rhymes and children's songs. The CD has eight song tracks followed by a story that is split into eight tracks. These "story" tracks begin with a portion of the story followed by a song repeated from the beginning of the CD, making the story feel disjointed and hard to follow. Pronunications are slightly off throughout the CD, as are some song lyrics (e.g., the itsy bitsy spider climbs up the "chimney spout" instead of the water spout). Many of the songs feel cluttered with added effects. If listeners can get through all of the distracting sounds, they will hear some nicely arranged piano parts, but it will be difficult. Adult listeners will cringe at the saccharine nature of the songs and the cheesy electronic synthesized arrangements. This is a purchase to skip.—Caitlyn Walsh, Fayetteville Public Library, AR
